The Republican People's Party (CHP) continues to face the repercussions of the tensions experienced during the candidate selection process.

Hürriyet columnist Abdulkadir Selvi, known for his proximity to the government, alleged in his column detailing the tensions within the CHP that former Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu has not granted an appointment to Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu.

KILIÇDAROĞLU DID NOT ANSWER THE PHONES

Selvi wrote, “At the funeral of Altan Öymen’s wife, Ekrem İmamoğlu had invited Kılıçdaroğlu to dinner. Kılıçdaroğlu did not accept İmamoğlu’s invitation. However, he was at dinner with Canan Kaftancıoğlu and Emre Kongar that evening. As the election process began, Ekrem İmamoğlu called Kılıçdaroğlu to keep Alevi votes on his side. Despite calling three times, Kılıçdaroğlu did not answer his phone and did not respond positively to his requests for an appointment.”

Selvi also conveyed the following claim in the continuation of his article:

“In fact, a person working in İmamoğlu’s media visited Kılıçdaroğlu in Ankara. When he conveyed İmamoğlu’s request for a meeting at that time, he snapped, ‘Did he assign you?’”

Selvi expressed the views, “Kılıçdaroğlu knows that it was Ekrem İmamoğlu who toppled him. That is why he is not meeting with him. Kılıçdaroğlu is preparing for the CHP convention after the election. He is trying to pull Özgür Özel to his side against İmamoğlu. While handing over the chairmanship seat, he had told Özgür Özel, ‘Get rid of Ekrem. I will give you all kinds of support.’ Kılıçdaroğlu plans to return to the head of the CHP, even if it is to serve as chairman for just one day.”
