A new era in the CHP: Özgür Özel's 'A-team' takes shape

The Republican People's Party (CHP) Party Assembly met under the chairmanship of General Chair Özgür Özel. It is expected that Özel's 'A-team' will be determined during this meeting. This first meeting with the new Party Assembly (PM) members elected at the 39th Ordinary Congress was held behind closed doors at the party headquarters.

Following the congress, Özgür Özel visited Anıtkabir alongside the newly elected Party Assembly (PM) members, High Disciplinary Board (YDK) members, and members of parliament. The delegation walked along the Lion Road, laid a wreath at Atatürk's mausoleum, and observed a moment of silence. Afterward, Özel proceeded to the Misak-ı Milli Tower and wrote an emotional message in the Anıtkabir Special Book.

Özgür Özel wrote the following in the book:

'Dear Atatürk, my esteemed General Chair, we are in your presence once again with our Party Assembly and High Disciplinary Board members elected at our party's 39th Ordinary Congress. We are marching toward the future in unity and solidarity with our party program renewed at our congress, our updated charter, and our new staff. Today, we pledge to continue our struggle with determination to rescue our Republic, which is experiencing multiple crises, from the siege of the era, and to establish democracy, the rule of law, and justice in income and taxation.

Dear Atatürk, our Republican People's Party, one of your two greatest works, is under heavy attacks today, reaching as far as threats of closure. Our party's presidential candidate, elected mayors, and many of our colleagues are imprisoned. However, we possess the will to neutralize all attacks and rescue our country from these sieges, drawing inspiration from you and strength from our nation. We offer our gratitude to you, your comrades-in-arms, and the founding cadres of our Republic, and we commemorate our martyrs with respect and mercy. May your soul rest in peace.'

Following the visit, Özel and his accompanying delegation laid flowers at the grave of the Second President, İsmet İnönü, at Anıtkabir to pay their respects.
