Ahmet Özer's statements revealed: 'The real target is İmamoğlu'

Ahmet Özer's statements revealed: 'The real target is İmamoğlu'

The detention of Esenyurt Mayor Prof. Dr. Ahmet Özer, who was removed from office and replaced by a government-appointed trustee, continues.

Speaking to journalist Barış Terkoğlu from prison through his lawyers, Özer claimed that the investigation against him has three main objectives.

THE REAL TARGET IS İMAMOĞLU

According to Özer's allegations, these objectives are: to obtain rent in Esenyurt, to implement a similar process against Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, and to create chaos within the CHP.

Rejecting the accusations, Özer stated, "They will not succeed; the will of the people will prevail." Özer explained that many artists attended a festival organized without spending any money from the municipality's treasury, and that he met the artist named Rojda for the first time there. Özer noted that he had heard President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan had also invited the same artist to an event in the past.

Furthermore, Özer denied the allegations regarding his rent and phone calls, stating that his use of the word "you" (siz) in a conversation with Mehmet Kaya, whom he called to offer condolences, was misinterpreted. Regarding this, Özer stated, "I said 'you' out of courtesy; other meanings have been attributed to it."
