'Akın Gürlek' and 'Expert Witness' investigations: İmamoğlu's first testimony completed

'Akın Gürlek' and 'Expert Witness' investigations: İmamoğlu's first testimony completed

Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu arrived at the Istanbul Courthouse in Çağlayan to provide testimony as part of two separate investigations launched due to his statements regarding Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor Akın Gürlek and his remarks concerning an expert witness. While party members gathered around the courthouse to support İmamoğlu, police vehicles and water cannon trucks (TOMA) were positioned in the square in front of the courthouse, and armored vehicles were deployed.

İBB Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu's testimony, which began at 09:50 at the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office Terror Crimes Investigation Bureau, was accompanied by his lawyers Kemal Polat, Mehmet Pehlivan, and Nusret Yılmaz.

It was learned that İmamoğlu's testimony was completed as of 11:15, and the proceedings moved on to his lawyers' defense statements.

THEY CLOSED IT WITH BARRICADES

The corridors at the Çağlayan Courthouse, where İBB Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu arrived to give testimony, were closed off with barricades. Lawyers waiting to be let inside before İmamoğlu's testimony reacted to the situation. Chants of "Rights, law, justice" were heard in the courthouse corridors. Members of Parliament forced their way in. After waiting for approximately 1 hour, the barricades were opened.
