Following his official appointment, Akın Gürlek transitioned from his role as Chief Public Prosecutor of Istanbul to the Ministry of Justice. Gürlek published a thank-you message on his personal social media account following the positive remarks made by Nationalist Movement Party Chairman Devlet Bahçeli in Parliament.

In his post, Gürlek used the following expressions:

"I would like to thank Nationalist Movement Party Chairman Mr. Devlet Bahçeli for the support and well wishes he expressed toward me during his party's group meeting.

Justice service is a shared responsibility we carry toward our nation. We will perform our duties by remaining committed to the dignity of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey and the fundamental principles of the rule of law.

Under the leadership of our President Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, we will work with determination and resolve to further strengthen our nation's expectations for justice."

WHAT DID BAHÇELİ SAY?

In his speech at the group meeting, Bahçeli announced his support for Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek and Minister of Interior Mustafa Çiftçi, and harshly criticized the Republican People's Party (CHP) for their protest during Gürlek's oath-taking ceremony in Parliament. In his criticism of the CHP, Bahçeli stated, "Does it suit a politician to harass others here and there, does it align with the CHP's political line? Is your reaction based on the fact that your scheme in Istanbul has been disrupted? What are you, who are you? Know your place." Furthermore, he wished the new ministers success, saying, "I congratulate them individually. I wish them success with our full support."

While emphasizing that they will work to continue social justice services more strongly, the new Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek reiterated that they will remain committed to the principles of the rule of law and the reputation of the TBMM.
