It has emerged that AKP candidate received a sentence for domestic violence against his wife
It has emerged that Sadık Doğruer, the AKP's candidate for Mayor of Bergama, was sentenced to 7 months in prison for committing violence against his wife.
It has emerged that Sadık Doğruer, whom President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan announced as the Bergama mayoral candidate in İzmir, committed violence against his wife and received a 7-month prison sentence along with a 6-month restraining order. Following a slap from Doğruer, his wife suffered a 28 percent hearing loss.
HE ASSAULTED HIS WIFE
According to a report by Mehmet İnmez from Cumhuriyet Newspaper, the second-term mayoral candidacy of AKP Bergama Mayor Hakan Koştu, who was accused of corruption by his own sister, was rejected by President Erdoğan. Sadık Doğruer, the Mayor of Kınık, was nominated in his place during a ceremony held on January 27, despite allegations that Koştu had purchased villas in Germany and Istanbul despite having no inherited wealth.
It is alleged that the nominated candidate, Sadık Doğruer, was sentenced to 7 months and 15 days in prison on February 16, 2009, for the crime of "intentional injury" against his former wife. In March 2008, Doğruer slapped and assaulted his wife following an argument. His wife took refuge with a neighbor and requested help from the police.
THE COURT ISSUED A SENTENCE
Following the investigation, the Council of Forensic Medicine issued a report stating that the woman had suffered a 28 percent hearing loss due to the assault. After the complaint, the Karşıyaka 3rd Family Court issued a 6-month restraining order against Doğruer and sentenced him to 7 months and 15 days in prison. The Doğruer couple divorced after the court proceedings.
The incident of violence against a woman in the past involving Sadık Doğruer, who was nominated for Bergama, was noted in his candidacy file by the AKP İzmir provincial administration. However, Doğruer was nominated regardless.
