AKP congress date moved forward: Number of ministers Erdoğan will change in the Cabinet becomes clear

AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan had signaled last October that there would be changes in his party and the Presidential Cabinet.

Following the conclusion of the budget marathon in the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM), eyes have turned to the changes in the AKP and the Cabinet.

The AKP, which aims to complete its provincial congresses by March, was expected to hold its Grand Congress in April.

MAJOR CHANGE ON THE AKP AGENDA

However, Erdoğan requested that the provincial congresses be finished by mid-February. According to a report by Sözcü, the 8th Grand Congress is expected to be held at the end of February. A major change is on the agenda for the Cabinet, the Central Decision and Administrative Board (MKYK), and the Central Executive Board (MYK). The provincial congress process will be completed with the Istanbul Provincial Congress on February 18-19. Current Provincial Chairman Osman Nuri Kabaktepe is expected to continue in his position in Istanbul.

The name of Cenk Dilberoğlu is also being mentioned in party corridors for the Istanbul Provincial Chairmanship. Dilberoğlu, a graduate of an Imam Hatip High School (İHL) and a former executive of the Ensar Foundation, is currently an AKP MKYK member.

CANDIDACY REJECTED, SUPPORTERS WALKED OUT OF THE HALL

At the AKP Osmaniye Provincial Congress held the other day, the list submitted by Muzaffer Çuhadar, who was a candidate for the chairmanship, was rejected by the congress board. At the congress, current Provincial Chairman Mehmet Sadi Binboğa entered the election as the sole candidate. Çuhadar's supporters, reacting to the decision, walked out of the hall.

4-5 MINISTERS EXPECTED TO CHANGE

A cabinet revision is expected as of January. In the past, Erdoğan generally limited cabinet revisions to 3-4 names or 2 names. However, this time, it is considered certain that 4-5 names will change. It is being discussed that some names from the party's MYK will enter the cabinet.

THE ONLY NAME WHO HAS NOT CHANGED

A change of nearly 50 percent is anticipated in the 75-person AKP MKYK list. There is only one name left who has served in all MKYK lists since the AKP was founded in 2001: former Minister Hayati Yazıcı, who currently serves as the AKP Head of Political and Legal Affairs.
