AKP's decision on Öcalan has been made!

As the AKP completes its report regarding the İmralı process, it has acted cautiously in communicating its decision on the "right to hope" for Öcalan to its party base following the opinions submitted to Parliament by the MHP and DEM Party. The report will be submitted to Parliament with President Erdoğan's approval.

AKP's decision on Öcalan has been made!

Reports containing the parties' views on the İmralı process have begun to be submitted to Parliament. The MHP and DEM Party have completed and submitted their process reports, but the AKP's report has not yet been finalized. The reasons behind this delay have begun to become clear.

AKP'S REPORT AND THE ÖCALAN DECISION

The AKP began drafting its report after observing the stances of the MHP and the DEM Party. It had been suggested that the AKP's report would include legal regulations regarding MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli's statement on the "right to hope for Öcalan." However, the AKP wing has clearly stated that a "right to hope" will not be granted to Öcalan in their report. Party sources stated that they are acting cautiously because they would be unable to explain such a move to their base.

REPORT TO BE SUBMITTED TO PARLIAMENT WITH ERDOĞAN'S APPROVAL

The final adjustments to the AKP's process report are nearing completion. The report, which is expected to be presented to President Erdoğan today, will be submitted to Parliament if it receives his approval. If President Erdoğan gives the "go-ahead," the next phase will begin with the report submitted to Parliament. If a common consensus cannot be reached among the reports, a "working report" will be prepared that includes the views of each party and the commission's findings.

WORKING REPORT AND LEGISLATIVE PROPOSAL

The AKP plans to enact a special law for the process. The new law is expected to include a categorization based on the actions in which organization members were involved, with sentencing evaluations to be made according to these categories. It is also anticipated that the definition of an "organization that dissolves itself" will be added to the law.

AKP sources emphasized that for this process to continue effectively, it must be registered that the organization has completely laid down its arms in all regions where it is present. This determination is seen as an important step for the process to move forward and for legislative proposals to be prepared.

It is stated that a legal process is underway for all these steps to be taken, for consensus to be reached, and for the reports to be submitted to Parliament to be completed. AKP sources noted that they are working diligently, especially on legal regulations, and are making efforts to establish common ground between the parties.
