AKP's Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality mayoral candidate hopeful announced

While there is curiosity about who the AKP's Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality mayoral candidate will be, candidates have also begun to announce themselves. Former AK Party Istanbul Deputy Metin Külünk has announced that he is a candidate hopeful for the AK Party for the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality.

"I WAS COMMANDED TO SET OUT"

Metin Külünk made posts on his social media account with the note, "We are starting again. We are Istanbul."

Külünk included the following statements in his post:

"Why did I set out on the path of candidacy? Because I am an Istanbulite. I was commanded to set out. I was taught the prayer five times a day, 'Guide me to the straight path of those upon whom You have bestowed favor!...' I was warned about those who have incurred wrath and those who have gone astray. I have always wondered about those who were bestowed with favor. I learned that; they were cities whose surroundings were blessed. Like Jerusalem, Mecca, Medina, and the promised Istanbul. Those who came from the seven regions of my country to conquer the seven hills of Istanbul; set out to be worthy of this promise. Each of them became a Fatih; they recited the Fatiha in praise! Because the Fatiha begins with mercy and continues as 'We'. We and Mercy. Here, on the path of candidacy, are my two provisions for the journey.

"I WAS OBLIGED TO BE A CANDIDATE"

I was obliged to be a 'candidate' for Istanbul, on the roads of Istanbul. Because Istanbul taught me; to be a companion! Not to leave anyone on the road. To love the road, to serve those encountered on the road. However, one reason for my candidacy was a final letter sent from Istanbul. Istanbul began its letter with the secret of the phrase, 'Your Lord has not abandoned you, nor has He become displeased with you!...'. It reminded me that I was not left alone, that it was the silent cry of those who love Istanbul. It stated that both the earthquake and the 'crazy projects' were on Istanbul's agenda; that a series of visions, from the financial center to its tourism marvel features, were the jewels of Istanbul, and expressed its satisfaction with them."

On the day Metin Külünk announced his candidacy for Istanbul, posters reading 'Metin brother, be a candidate for the IMM' were seen at certain points in Istanbul.
