AKP responds to Özgür Özel's remarks on Akın Gürlek

AKP Deputy Chairman and Party Spokesperson Ömer Çelik responded sharply in a social media post to the statements made by CHP Chairman Özgür Özel targeting President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. Stating that Özel has adopted a low-level tone on the political stage, Çelik said, "The language Özgür Özel uses toward our President is a new ugliness added to his own record. We return this ugliness to Özgür Özel, as it suits him well."

Çelik further emphasized that Özel consistently maintains a wrong stance on both domestic and foreign policy issues, stating, "For months, he has broken the record for standing on the wrong side of every issue that has come to the agenda. He has adopted the goals of foreigners in politics. He has repeatedly shown that his aggressive political tone is directed at the AK Party and our President."

In his statement, Çelik said, "The values represented by our President are a guarantee for our nation. It is impossible to harm these values with ugly verbal attacks launched against Erdoğan. We will continue to respond to these attacks with the strongest politics. We will never allow opportunities for provocations coming from the outside or political discord produced from within."

AKP spokesperson Çelik alleged that the CHP leader also maintains a stance that undermines Turkey's defense capacity in foreign policy, stating, "Such an approach is unacceptable while wars are taking place on our country's borders. We will maintain a determined stance against statements that target Turkey's interests," indicating that their position will continue.

WHAT DID ÖZGÜR ÖZEL SAY?

CHP Chairman Özgür Özel had criticized President Erdoğan and the government during his party's group meeting, specifically voicing his allegations regarding certain judicial decisions and attitudes within the AK Party. Özel had stated, "My call to the AK Party: Remaining silent is being complicit in a crime. I invite them to criticize their own party. The People's Alliance is carrying a heavy burden behind Akın Gürlek's statements. Erdoğan is part of someone else's plan. Except for the Kenan Evren era, Turkey has never been this dependent on the US. We must transition from a passive neutrality to an active neutrality."

Özgür Özel also made a notable statement, saying, "Mr. Erdoğan, is this the first time you are hearing about these title deeds from me? The biggest radish is Recep Tayyip Erdoğan."
