The AKP's mayoral candidate for Elbistan, Kahramanmaraş, Abdullah Yener, has announced his withdrawal from the candidacy.

"I STAND WITH OUR PRESIDENT AND OUR PARTY"

Yener's candidacy was officially announced on February 4. Yener, who faced occasional backlash during his election campaign, announced that he was withdrawing from the race. In a statement on social media, Yener said, "Due to necessity, I am withdrawing from my candidacy for the AKP Elbistan Mayoralty. I would like to thank the friends, colleagues, and fellow citizens of Elbistan who embraced me during this process. I stand with our President and our party. Respectfully announced to the public."

NEW CANDIDATE TO BE ANNOUNCED

AKP Kahramanmaraş Provincial Chairman Cüneyt Doğan said regarding Yener's withdrawal, "It is his own decision; may it be for the best. Our candidate selection efforts are ongoing. We will announce the name soon."

Former AKP Kahramanmaraş Deputy Avni Doğan had criticized Yener's candidacy, posting, "Either he will withdraw or they will make him withdraw. Patience."

While it was alleged that Yener had a debt of 50 million dollars, he was protested by the people of Elbistan during his election campaign with chants of "Are we going to pay your debt?"
