Alliance remarks from Ümit Özdağ and Müsavat Dervişoğlu
Victory Party leader Ümit Özdağ and İYİ Party Chairman Müsavat Dervişoğlu came together at a congress organized by the Nationalist Congress Association in Ankara. While Özdağ stated, "In a political climate where Devlet Bahçeli and Abdullah Öcalan are heaping praise on each other, we too can have coffee with Chairman Müsavat," Dervişoğlu remarked, "We never actually parted ways."
Victory Party Chairman Ümit Özdağ and İYİ Party Chairman Müsavat Dervişoğlu came together at a congress held by the Nationalist Congress Association in Ankara and made notable statements regarding the current agenda.
Speaking at the congress, Ümit Özdağ argued that if the current political process continues in this manner, the DEM Party will increase its votes. Özdağ made the following assessments in his speech:
"IF THE PROCESS CONTINUES THIS WAY..."
"As elections approach, 'The power of nationalists' is a very beautiful slogan. This is not a distant dream. The DAM alliance—that is, the alliance formed by DEM, AKP, and MHP—is underway. One of the parties in this alliance will increase its votes: DEM. If the process continues this way, DEM's vote share will rise even higher than the level in June 2013. It saw its highest vote share at 13.5 percent in the June 2015 elections. However, this time the picture will be much more severe for the AKP and MHP. They will face a result even worse than June 2015. They have seen that they will leave power, but what matters is for the opposition to determine how it will come to power."
"WE TOO CAN HAVE COFFEE WITH CHAIRMAN MÜSAVAT"
At the end of his speech, referring to the rapprochements in politics, Ümit Özdağ stated, "I suppose in a political climate where Devlet Bahçeli and Abdullah Öcalan are arm-in-arm, heaping praise on each other, we too can have coffee with Chairman Müsavat."
"WE ARE ONE AND TOGETHER FROM YESTERDAY TO TODAY"
Taking the podium after Özdağ, İYİ Party leader Müsavat Dervişoğlu began with a humorous opening:
"Ümit Hoca did what he does best as he finished his speech."
Drawing attention to the friendship between the two leaders, Dervişoğlu continued:
"We never actually parted ways. We are one and together from yesterday to today. Some issues arising from differences of opinion may have come between us, but this never meant 'we will never come together again.' To say that would be an injustice to you."
