Are Gelecek, Saadet, and DEVA fielding a joint candidate?

Whether the opposition will form an alliance in the local elections remains a subject of curiosity. While the IYI Party has decided to field candidates in all 81 provinces, it was claimed that the Gelecek Party, Saadet Party, and DEVA Party would field a joint mayoral candidate in Istanbul.

According to a report by Cumhuriyet; party officials speaking on the allegations stated that no such dialogue is currently taking place. Gelecek Party officials stated that they have only established a dialogue with the Saadet Party regarding a joint candidacy. Officials from the Saadet Party and DEVA Party, however, indicated that they would field their own candidates.

'WILL BE DISCUSSED AT THE FINAL STAGE'

Stating that Istanbul and Ankara are important cities, a Gelecek Party official said, "Istanbul and Ankara, in particular, are subjects to be discussed with other opposition parties. These provinces will be discussed last. Perhaps the CHP will need support in the coming days. It will be discussed in the coming days within the framework of that support. Let it be clear what the parties will do, let the congress processes pass, and let the pieces fall into place. After the situations have matured a bit, Istanbul and Ankara, in particular, will be discussed at the final stage."

Stating that they are not in talks with other parties, a DEVA Party official used the expressions, "DEVA will compete with its own name and its own candidate, including in Istanbul and Ankara. We are also closed to the processes of joint candidacy proposals that may come from other parties in the future."

A Saadet Party official said, "We have not had a meeting or an agenda regarding a joint candidacy. All parties are saying they will field their own candidates, and we will also field a strong candidate."
