Two students who were detained at Boğaziçi University for carrying banners during President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's visit were referred to court with a request for their arrest. The incident occurred following ongoing protests on campus.

SECURITY MEASURES AHEAD OF ERDOĞAN'S VISIT

On February 12, the date of President Erdoğan's visit to Boğaziçi University, significant security measures were implemented in the shadow of ongoing protests on campus.

While protests against the decision to vacate club rooms on the South Campus continued, Erdoğan attended the opening ceremony of the university's male and female dormitories. Erdoğan's visit, in which he emphasized that universities should return to their primary missions, was accompanied by body searches and security checks across the campus. Additionally, the cancellation of some classes drew attention.

JUDICIAL CONTROL DECISION

The two students detained at Boğaziçi were released under judicial control conditions.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Just before Erdoğan's visit, at least three students carrying banners were detained at the North Campus entrance during body searches conducted around the campus. Among the detained students were Ayşe Cebecioğlu and Sude Şener. The students were taken to the Çağlayan Courthouse, where they were referred to a judge with a request for their arrest.
