Bahçeli gives the order: Surprise move from MHP regarding Kılıçdaroğlu

MHP Deputy Chairman Feti Yıldız announced that the MHP has withdrawn its complaint in the case filed against former CHP Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu.

Yıldız stated that MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli gave the instruction to withdraw the complaint, and recalled Bahçeli's words from his group meeting: “If it is a sacrifice, we will fulfill what is requested. We know that there is no development without change, but those who do not change their minds cannot change anything. We are aiming for a developed and strengthened Turkey.”

During Kılıçdaroğlu's tenure as chairman, the MHP had filed a criminal complaint regarding his speeches criticizing the imprisonment of former HDP Co-Chairman Selahattin Demirtaş and the appointment of trustees to municipalities.

'BAHÇELİ HAS GIVEN THE INSTRUCTION TO CARRY OUT THE NECESSARY PROCEDURES'

MHP's Feti Yıldız noted the following:

“An investigation was launched upon the complaint petition we submitted to the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office on 05.02.2020 regarding the former Chairman of the Republican People's Party, Mr. Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu,

A public lawsuit was filed for his punishment, and it was requested on behalf of the public that security measures be applied to him, on the grounds that his statements, which constitute the crime of 'praising crime and criminals' regulated in the 'Crimes Against Public Peace' section of the Turkish Penal Code, were of a nature capable of disrupting public order and were in conditions that would create a clear, imminent, and concrete danger to the peace and order of society, and that the elements of the crime were formed in a chain manner.

Objections regarding duty and jurisdiction took a long time, and as a result, the case file was registered in the records of the Ankara 35th High Criminal Court. Mr. Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu did not attend the first hearing held on 03.12.2024, having submitted an excuse.

Our Chairman, Mr. Devlet Bahçeli, summarized the times we are going through in his group meeting with the words:

'We aim to build the roof of a century without terrorism by uniting hearts. With cautious and prudent optimism, we will hopefully raise the bar in a fair struggle that will not cause any harm to the blessed existence of our state.

If it is a sacrifice, we will fulfill what is requested. We know that there is no development without change, but those who do not change their minds cannot change anything. We are aiming for a developed and strengthened Turkey.'

As of today, he has given the instruction to carry out the necessary procedures to 'withdraw our complaint' in the case where Mr. Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu is being tried at the Ankara 35th High Criminal Court.”
