MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli issued a written statement regarding the latest developments in Syria. Emphasizing the collapse of the Assad regime, Bahçeli stated that Turkey has maintained a correct stance throughout the 13-year process. Highlights from Bahçeli's statement are as follows:
'THE ASSAD REGIME HAS FINALLY COLLAPSED'
Bahçeli stated that a new political era has begun in Syria, which has been struggling with major crises since 2011. Noting that the Assad regime has ended in oppression and humiliation, he expressed that the Syrian people have attained freedom. "The Syrian people have broken their chains of captivity, attained freedom, and stepped into a new era," he said.
'TURKEY ALWAYS STOOD IN THE RIGHT PLACE'
Praising Turkey's stance on the Syrian crisis, Bahçeli used the expressions, "Turkey has meticulously defended the ethics and principles of neighborly law and has always stood in the right place."
CLEAR MESSAGE AGAINST PKK/YPG
Stating that the terrorist organization PKK/YPG cannot find shelter in any part of Syria, Bahçeli said, "The PKK/YPG, which was removed from the west of the Euphrates, must also be cleared from the east. These organizations, which are a threat to the security of Turkey and the countries of the region, must either be destroyed or forced to surrender."
'TRANSITIONAL GOVERNMENT IS PROMISING'
Bahçeli said that the stance of the new transitional government in Syria is promising. Bahçeli stated, "The balanced and reassuring messages of the transitional government, which will last for three months, increase our positive expectations regarding the new era."
'SYRIA'S UNITY IS OUR RED LINE'
Stating that the political and territorial integrity of Syria is a red line for Turkey, Bahçeli said, "Turkey will continue to stand by the Syrian people. Israel's expansionist policies on Syrian territory are unacceptable."
Bahçeli also criticized the statements made by CHP Chairman Özgür Özel, describing such rhetoric as "nonsense." Emphasizing that Turkey's Syria policies align with national interests, Bahçeli stated that the Turkish nation stands by its Syrian brothers and sisters.
