Banner protest against Gürsel Tekin in Avcılar

A meeting held in Avcılar by Gürsel Tekin, who was appointed as a trustee to the Republican People's Party (CHP) Istanbul Provincial Presidency and subsequently left the post, became the scene of a protest by young people.

While Tekin's meeting was underway, members of the CHP Avcılar Youth Branch hung a banner on the building opposite the meeting venue that read, "Free Istanbul, Free Turkey." Following this action, the young people chanted in unison, "The trustees will go, we will remain!"

The banner was also visible in a post about the meeting shared on Gürsel Tekin's social media account. Footage of the protest was also shared on social media by Umut Baran Sonbahar, the head of the CHP Avcılar Youth Branch.

As the process regarding his removal from office and internal party debates continue, this event in Avcılar drew attention as one of the ways in which the youth are expressing themselves.
