BBP Chairman Mustafa Destici: 'In my opinion, more than 10 percent of that 37 percent vote is not CHP's own vote'

Great Unity Party (BBP) Chairman Mustafa Destici evaluated the agenda to journalists at an iftar program organized by the Günyüzü Municipality of Eskişehir.

''IN MY OPINION, MORE THAN 10 PERCENT OF THAT 37 PERCENT VOTE IS NOT CHP'S OWN VOTE''

Mustafa Destici said, "The number of municipalities won and the vote percentage show this. The results show this, but when we examine and analyze the matter, what do we see? In my opinion, more than 10 percent of that 37 percent vote is not CHP's own vote. First of all, the DEM Party has at least a 6-7 percent vote there, together with the TİP. The IYI Party has at least 4-5 percentage points of the vote. There are votes coming from parties with which it previously formed an alliance. When you subtract these, you actually see the CHP at its classic 25-26 percent. However, it won a high number of mayoralties. We congratulate the winner.

Voter turnout was low. We see that a significant portion of the AK Party base and our citizens who support the People's Alliance or voted for it in the previous election did not vote in this election. We will, of course, compensate for these. As far as I know, the Republican People's Party Chairman is in front of the Supreme Election Council (YSK) for the Hatay elections. There is no need to be in front of or inside the YSK. The YSK will make its decision according to the law and the legislation it has. We believe in this. They are trying to create an element of pressure. I do not think this element of pressure is necessary for the YSK to make a different decision. Because if the necessary documents and information are already available, there is no need for Özgür Özel or other deputies or the party management to go there. The YSK will make the decision fairly anyway," he said.

Drawing attention to the importance his party places on the Palestinian issue, Destici noted the following:

"The Government of the Republic of Turkey, the President, and the entire People's Alliance have stood by the Palestinian issue and Gaza from the very beginning. Turkey has made every effort it could, both in the international arena and in other areas. It has provided every kind of material aid it could. It has given all its moral support. Turkey is a state, a country that has made the harshest statements on this issue against Israel, personally through the President, at the United Nations and other organizations. Therefore, let no one be unfair here. 'Let trade with Israel be cut off.' Yes, let it be cut off. We are of the same opinion. But how should this happen? The entire Organization of Islamic Cooperation should take a collective decision. The Arab League should take a collective decision, and different countries—countries that Turkey can also influence—should take a collective decision so that this can become a sanction on the other side. I do not think those who turn this into a domestic political tool are on the right path.

Protests that do not befit a conservative or a spiritualist, swearing at the state's police, spitting, and insulting are unacceptable things. Everyone has the right to protest and take action. We have done so too. Our Alperen Hearths have done so too. We will do it again, but not by clashing with our police, not by insulting our state, our President, or Turkey. The target is the terrorist Zionist Israel. If we are going to shout at someone, insult someone, or call someone out, it is Israel. It is not the Republic of Turkey or its officials. Of course, we can make our warnings. Warning is everyone's right. If you take it further than that and join hands with separatists, if you do this by joining hands with far-left groups, I personally do not look for good intentions here."
