The AKP and MHP, which collaborated in the last local elections, have started working together for the elections on March 31, 2024.

AKP and MHP officials have held meetings regarding local election efforts over the past 2 weeks.

WHAT KIND OF COOPERATION WILL THERE BE IN 2024?

While MHP officials state that the negotiations are continuing "with great harmony and grace," AKP officials also express that they are engaged in a "very positive effort." However, it is not yet known what formula the two parties, which collaborated in 51 provinces including 30 metropolitan municipalities in the 2019 elections, will follow in this election.

According to a report by Gazete Duvar, while it is being said behind the scenes that the two parties will largely maintain the cooperation established in the 2019 local elections, there is talk that there may be changes in some cities.

While the MHP says, "Be prepared for surprises," it is stated within the AKP that the work will continue until the day mayoral candidates are reported to the Supreme Election Council (YSK), with the remark, "Anything can happen until the second weekend of February."

The delegations of the two parties are expected to complete their preliminary work by the end of this month, which will then be presented to the leaders. Following the leaders' meeting, the delegations will continue their work.
