Behind the scenes of Cemil Tugay's resignation... Allegations of a critical appointment tension with headquarters

New allegations have emerged regarding the background of the resignation of İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Cemil Tugay, whose decision to leave the CHP has caused a wide stir in the political agenda. According to the claim brought to the agenda by journalist Barış Yarkadaş, there was a serious disagreement between Tugay and the CHP Headquarters due to an appointment in İzmir.

A STRIKING CLAIM FOLLOWING THE RESIGNATION DECISION

It has been suggested that the background of the decision by Cemil Tugay, who announced his resignation from the Republican People's Party (CHP), lies in disagreements with the party leadership.

According to the claim voiced by Barış Yarkadaş, it is stated that in a meeting Tugay held with the CHP Headquarters before resigning, he objected to a decision made regarding the party administration in İzmir.

According to the claim, Cemil Tugay called the CHP Headquarters and expressed that he did not find the removal of Çağatay Güç and the appointment of Utku Gümrükçü in his place to be correct.

It is alleged that during the meeting, Tugay argued that the decision in question directly affected the political balance in İzmir and that local figures should also have been involved in the process.

According to the claim, Tugay used the following expressions to the Headquarters officials:

"I wish you had consulted with us as well. We are also engaged in politics here; you should have asked for our opinion too."

ALLEGED REQUEST TO WITHDRAW THE DECISION

According to the allegations, Cemil Tugay requested that the decision regarding the appointment of Utku Gümrükçü be halted and re-evaluated.

It is claimed that Tugay requested the withdrawal of the decision, stating that the views of the İzmir organization and political actors in the city should be taken into account.

However, it is alleged that the CHP leadership did not respond positively to this request.

CLAIM THAT "MYK DECISIONS CANNOT BE CHANGED"

According to the claim, CHP Party Assembly Member Müslim Sarı also joined the meeting.

It is alleged that Sarı emphasized that the CHP is an institutional structure and stated that it is not possible to change the decisions taken by the Central Executive Board (MYK).

It is claimed that with the CHP leadership standing behind the appointment in question, the disagreement between the parties became even more pronounced.

TUGAY HAD ALSO EXPRESSED HIS REACTION IN HIS RESIGNATION STATEMENT

Cemil Tugay had also made criticisms directed at the party leadership in the text where he announced his resignation from the CHP.

While Tugay stated that the recent expulsion decisions were worrying, he evaluated the removal of the İzmir Provincial Chair with harsh words.

Describing the removal of the İzmir Provincial Chair as "a great injustice and an unacceptable mistake made against the political will of İzmir," Tugay argued that the will put forward by party members and voters was ignored.

"THE CURRENT STRUCTURE IS NOT THE UMBRELLA FOR THIS STRUGGLE"

In his resignation statement, Tugay stated that Turkey needs a CHP that is free from all kinds of guardianship and manipulation, and that prioritizes the rights and welfare of the people, and expressed his conviction that the current party structure is not the umbrella for this struggle.

Explaining that he decided to leave his party in line with these reasons, Tugay announced that he would continue his political life as an independent.

HE WILL CONTINUE HIS DUTY INDEPENDENTLY

In the statement he made after his resignation, İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Cemil Tugay stated that he would continue to serve the people of İzmir.

Tugay noted that he would carry out his duty independently from now on and that he would continue his mayoral duties with the same sense of responsibility.
