Beykoz Mayor Alaattin Köseler arrested again

In the case of Beykoz Mayor Alaattin Köseler, who was suspended from his duties as part of investigations into CHP-run municipalities, a decision for his release was made yesterday. The prosecutor's office appealed Köseler's release.

The investigation conducted by the Istanbul Anatolian Chief Public Prosecutor's Office into 26 people, 13 of whom were under arrest, including Beykoz Mayor Alaattin Köseler, has been completed. The prepared indictment requested that Köseler be sentenced to between 17 years and 6 months and 67 years and 3 months in prison.

KÖSELER TAKEN FROM HIS HOME BY POLICE

Regarding the matter, 26 people appeared before the judge for the 3rd time yesterday at the Istanbul Anatolian 17th High Criminal Court. The court panel decided to request the accounting records and documents of the tenders that were the subject of the investigation from the Beykoz Municipality.

The court decided to release all defendants in the case who were under arrest, including Alaattin Köseler. It was stated that the prosecutor's office appealed Köseler's release.

The nature and character of the crime and the fact that not all evidence had been collected were cited as reasons. In its appeal, the prosecutor's office argued that, for this reason, a judicial control measure in the form of a travel ban would be insufficient at this stage.

The 17th High Criminal Court rejected the appeal, but the higher court, the 18th High Criminal Court, requested an arrest. Police took Beykoz Mayor Alaattin Köseler from his home to take him back to prison.

ARRESTED

The Anatolian Chief Public Prosecutor's Office appealed the release of suspended Beykoz Mayor Alaattin Köseler, as well as Veli Gümüş, Serdar Karahan, Havva Dindar, and Uğur İnci, and requested their arrest. Alaattin Köseler, who appeared before the judge, was ordered to be arrested again, and Köseler was sent back to prison after only 30 hours of freedom.
