Bilal Erdoğan joins Gulf tour: 'An effort to turn Turkey into a dynasty'

It was noted that President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan was accompanied by his son, Bilal Erdoğan, in addition to numerous ministers and bureaucrats, during his visits to Kuwait, Qatar, and Oman this week. Bilal Erdoğan's participation in a state visit without an official title has become the focus of public criticism.

Speaking to Batu Bozkürk from Cumhuriyet, CHP Deputy Chairman Namık Tan stated, "Children of state officials do not have official titles. This is an effort to turn Turkey into a de facto dynasty." Tan emphasized that this situation is of a nature that would provoke a reaction not only from the opposition but from anyone familiar with Turkey's state traditions and customs.

A SITUATION CONTRARY TO STATE TRADITION

Referring to international diplomatic customs, Tan stated that only the spouses of state officials can participate in official visits. Tan said, "While official titles are granted to the spouses of those authorized to represent states, such as heads of state and government or ambassadors, this right is not granted to children. Bilal Erdoğan's participation in these trips creates major problems in terms of Turkey's image in the outside world and the seriousness of the state."

"THE SYSTEM IS TURNING INTO A DE FACTO DYNASTY"

Referring to Erdoğan's management style, Tan said that the system he defines as a "One-Man Regime" is trying to transform Turkey into a de facto dynasty.
