'Sheikh Said' resignations in Bingöl MHP

The Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality trustee's announcement that a new road would be named Sheikh Said Boulevard sparked a controversy that has now triggered a crisis within the MHP in Bingöl.

MHP COUNCIL GROUP DISSOLVED

According to a report by Mazlum Bucuka from Artıgerçek, MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli's remarks on the matter, stating that "Said of Hınıs is a traitor to the homeland and the terrorist leader of his era," have divided the local organization.

MHP council members of the Bingöl Municipality, Ahmet Bukan, Ramazan Susadı, and Mehmet Sayit Günergök, resigned from the party in protest of Bahçeli's words, leading to the dissolution of the MHP Council Group.

"NO POINT IN REMAINING IN THE PARTY"

Resigning MHP council member Ramazan Susadı stated that he decided to resign due to Bahçeli's remarks. Asserting that Sheikh Said was a religious leader and is accepted as a figure of value, Susadı expressed that after Bahçeli's words, there was no point in remaining in the party and that he would continue his council membership as an independent.

"IT WAS IMPOSSIBLE FOR US TO ACCEPT"

Another resigning MHP member, Ahmet Bukan, also emphasized that "Sheikh Said is a figure of value" and stated that Bahçeli's remarks were unacceptable.

Following the resignation of the 3 members, the MHP, which had 6 members in the Bingöl Municipal Council, has seen its group dissolved.
