Breaking News... All eyes were on Ankara... Verdict reached in critical case for CHP!

The fifth hearing of the lawsuit filed for the cancellation of the Republican People's Party's (CHP) 38th Ordinary Convention and 21st Extraordinary Convention was held at the Ankara 42nd Civil Court of First Instance. The case had come to the agenda with allegations of "suspicion, irregularities, and the impairment of delegate will" during the conventions.

DETAILS OF THE LAWSUIT FILED FOR THE CANCELLATION OF THE CONVENTIONS

At the 38th Ordinary Convention held on November 4-5, 2023, Özgür Özel was elected as the CHP Chairman, surpassing Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu. Subsequently, similar allegations of irregularity were raised regarding the 21st Extraordinary Convention held on April 6, 2025. Some delegates and former party officials had filed a lawsuit on the grounds that the delegate will was impaired, the voting was rigged, and the conventions were invalid.

LAWSUIT DISMISSED

The Ankara 42nd Civil Court of First Instance dismissed the absolute nullity lawsuit. Thus, the CHP Congress was deemed valid.
