BREAKING NEWS... Another 'radish in the bag' remark from Erdoğan: 'They wrote the book on cannibalism'
AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan made statements at his party's parliamentary group meeting. Erdoğan's agenda includes the recent municipal investigations. Using harsh words against CHP-run municipalities, Erdoğan said, "These are crimes obtained by security forces and the judiciary in light of documents and information coming from within the CHP, before the big radishes in the bag are spilled out." Erdoğan also stated, "The CHP has attempted to cover up the scandal by trying to pour people into the streets and create chaos in the country. They are angry not at the thief, but at the one who catches them."
The parties' group meetings for this week are continuing.
AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan spoke at his party's group meeting.
Here are the highlights from Erdoğan's statements:
As you know, one of the virtues that the month of Ramadan brings us, alongside countless beauties, is that the spirit of sharing, solidarity, and brotherhood reaches its peak during this month. For centuries, we have been strengthening our law of brotherhood with this spirit, opening our hearts to one another just as we open our tables. Infinite praise be to Allah. As the AK Party family, we are in the field at full strength with our organization, municipalities, deputies, headquarters, and cabinet.
Without paying heed to those who try to cast a shadow over this magnificent feast of spirit, I express my gratitude to all my fellow travelers, especially you, our deputies, who have been running for a month in every corner of our 81 provinces, in all of Turkey's districts and towns, in all neighborhoods and villages, to enter one more heart, to hold the hand of one more needy person, to knock on the door of one more person in need, and to touch one more wounded heart.
We have never forgotten, and we do not forget, those who wanted to defeat us through illegitimate means. The attacks made against our nation to date have been accounted for before the law. From now on, every kind of sabotage against the Turkish economy will also be held to account. Those involved in treason and those laying ambushes for the nation's brotherhood will answer for it.
"The looters' resentment still hasn't subsided"
Here is another truth: The resentment of these looters, who sometimes exploit Gazi Mustafa Kemal, sometimes the West, and sometimes the beliefs and ethnic sensitivities of various segments of our nation, still has not subsided. Circles that harbor existential hostility toward Turkey and the Turkish nation have used both sides to the fullest in line with their own goals. One of the reasons behind the 5th column activities being carried out so extensively and recklessly, including working to sink the Turkish economy, is that there are too many rootless people who put their own interests above everything else.
Whatever gains we have achieved for this country and nation in the last 100 years, we achieved them despite these people, despite their sabotage and their treason. Yes, we have spent all these years standing tall without collapsing, but we have never forgotten, and we do not forget, those who intended to create chaos with dark murders, those who shouted for coups to prevent us from electing a President, those who acted as pawns for FETÖ's treasons and applauded their tanks, and those who hoped for help from terrorist organizations' attacks on our borders and cities. Likewise, we have never forgotten, and we do not forget, those who call for international intervention in our country whenever they are in a tight spot, those who calculate to achieve through collapsing the economy what they could not achieve through political struggle, those who try to pit the nation against each other at every opportunity over beliefs, origins, and political and social differences, those who even try to use a disaster like an earthquake for their delusions, and in short, those who strive to defeat us through illegitimate means, and those who are so blinded that they would set the country and the nation on fire.
Both our nation and our state have recorded all of these in their memory, to be held to account one by one when necessary. Indeed, the disrespect shown to our nation, the attacks on our democracy, and the treasons against the national will to date have been held to account one by one before the law and on legitimate grounds. From now on, every kind of sabotage against the Turkish economy and the nation's welfare and peace will be held to account before the judiciary. Those involved in treason and those laying ambushes for the nation's brotherhood will eventually answer to justice. Look, this is not called blind hostility or revanchism; it is the reflex of the national will, the requirement of being a state, and the condition of the principle of 'ebet müddet' (the state's eternal existence).
Of course, as a politician, I accept that people change, just like everyone else, and we see examples of this personally. But at the same time, we know very well, very well indeed, the hyenas in sheep's clothing, the sowers of discord who appear to be on the side of righteousness, and the hypocrites who walk around us and in our vicinity to stab the dagger in their belts into our backs.
I draw your attention particularly to this point. We look at the issue with the inspiration we receive from Hoca Ahmed Yesevi, Yunus, Mevlana, Hacı Bektaş-ı Veli, Hacı Bayram-ı Veli, and many other sultans of the heart. This ancient teaching tells us that we are obligated to embrace all 85 million in our country, and as much of the humanity as we can reach. Just like the presumption of innocence in law, the presumption of declaration is essential in politics. We are obligated to welcome everyone who knocks on the AK Party's door and says hello. In fact, it is our primary duty to go from street to street, from house to house, and invite people under this roof. We are obliged to ask the people who come to us not the questions that Allah will ask them, but the questions that members of a political organization responsible for governing the country would ask. That is, we are responsible for asking the people who grace our party not about their beliefs, origins, leanings, sins, or merits, but about their needs, expectations, and troubles, and to strive for their solutions.
Without ever neglecting this primary duty, and without erasing from our memory what we have experienced from the past to the present, how do we walk toward the future in the strongest way? We will be in search of this. As members of the AK Party Parliamentary Group, I want you to never lose this perspective. I especially request that you keep these alive in your minds and hearts at all times.
Amidst the chaos of daily events, we will not neglect the qualities that make us who we are, and while doing what is required by the conjuncture, which is an inevitable reality, we will definitely not deviate from our main route. We have more works, projects, investments, and more services to bring to our country. To realize these, we trust first in Allah, then in our nation and the strong support our nation will give us. I expect much more effort and much more intensive work from you in this direction.
We have a determination that we have been expressing for a long time, which, although it disturbs some, shows that the developments are the very truth itself. The fate of Turkey has become intertwined, integrated, and one with the fate of the AK Party and the People's Alliance. The developments in the recent period are proof of this determination once again and in a very striking way. Look, as the People's Alliance, we won the 2023 elections with the Turkey Century vision, took the Presidency, and secured the majority in Parliament. However, in the mayoral elections held last year, not only did we not reach the results we desired, but we also faced losses that seemed impossible.
“ISTANBUL SUDDENLY RETURNED TO THE 1989-94 PERIOD”
We have a determination that we have been expressing for a long time, which, although it disturbs some, shows that the developments are the very truth itself; the fate of Turkey has become intertwined with the fate of the AK Party and the People's Alliance. The developments in the recent period are proof of this determination once again.
You see what great costs the losses we experienced in municipalities for one reason or another, some of which date back to 2019, have brought to both our cities and our country. Turkey has suddenly returned to the 1989-1994 period in terms of municipalities. Our cities and the tens of millions of people living there not only fail to receive services, but they also hear insults on top of it.
“IT IS UNDERSTOOD THAT THEY WROTE THE BOOK ON CANNIBALISM”
The blame for burning buses, non-working escalators, and disrupted services is being placed on our Istanbulite brothers and sisters. It is emerging that the resources transferred with taxes paid to municipalities are being used for someone's personal interests instead of works and services. It is understood that the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality and some district municipalities have written the book on cannibalism regarding corruption and theft.
“BRAZILIAN SOAP OPERAS” ANALOGY
The scale of the disgrace, starting with fake diplomas and continuing with a cycle of bribery and extortion, has come to light with the latest operations. There is every kind of lawlessness, from millions of liras worth of fruits and vegetables transported by tankers, to the handing over of the most private information of the people of Istanbul, from thefts to hitmen fed with the public's money. If you were to try to make a series about the corruption in Istanbul's CHP-run municipalities, you would encounter more material than in Brazilian soap operas. Moreover, these are crimes obtained by security forces and the judiciary in light of documents and information coming from within the CHP, before the big radishes in the bag are spilled out. When the big radishes are spilled out, they won't have the face to look at their own relatives, let alone the nation.
“THEY ARE MAKING THE DANGEROUS PATH IMPASSE”
The CHP has attempted to cover up the scandal by trying to pour people into the streets and create chaos in the country. They are angry not at the thief, but at the one who catches them. By embracing the disgraces caused by marginal organizations, they are making the dangerous path they have entered completely impassable.
Those who line up to become informants when the investigation starts are from the CHP. Those who shower the prosecutor's office with new documents as the investigation deepens are from the CHP. Those who are fed up with the hitmen used by the criminal organization on social media are from the CHP. Those who complain to the court by saying 'there is fraud in the congress' are from the CHP. But the culprit is the AK Party. Where could we be in such an internal reckoning? Why are you involving us in the race of whistleblowing in your party? The robbers have turned on each other and gone to report it to the police. I remind the CHP management of this; no matter how much you lower the level, it is in vain. The toothpaste is out of the tube once. Your corruption cycle has been exposed. You cannot cover up the filth.
“WHAT GOOD DOES IT DO TO DESTROY GRAVEYARDS?”
He is complaining about media groups. He is complaining about us to the world. He is complaining about my Minister of Treasury and Finance. Who are you? First of all, what is your weight? How can you dare to complain about my Minister of Treasury and Finance? Above all, they gather these marginal groups in Şehzadebaşı and practically raze the graveyard next to the mosque there. Oh Özgür Özel... I suppose they will prepare your grave in this way one day, someone will come and either dig it up or destroy it. What kind of business is this? What good does it do to destroy these graveyards? With what mind are you doing this?
They are all magnificent works, both as history and as monuments. These uncouth, dishonorable people come and destroy these works. It is not possible to say 'okay' to these. History lies here. Attempting to destroy historical artifacts in this way is not something that can be swallowed. We are currently pursuing this matter with our judiciary as well. And by identifying those who participate in these acts, we will identify these masked terrorists and go after them as well.
“WERE YOU NOT THE ONES WHO HEROIZED FOUL-MOUTHED TYPES?”
The CHP chairman's protection of the base people who throw stones at the police, attack with axes, and show disrespect to our mosques offends us just as it offends our nation. With wordplay and by acting moralistic on social media, they try to distance themselves from the foul-mouthed. But weren't you the ones who sat people who cursed at the nation in the front row at the protocol until just yesterday? Weren't you the ones who heroized foul-mouthed types before the May 14-28 elections? You prepared the dishonor that happened on Monday evening with your poisonous language.
“ÖZEL IS DRAGGED DOWNHILL”
I have to say this clearly and plainly; the corruption and baseness that occurred on Monday evening is the result of the hate politics that the CHP management persistently pursues. They cannot escape this. The biggest reason for this baseness is the exhaustion of the CHP management. Mr. Özel has unfortunately not been able to become free. He has not been able to get out of the command of the tutelage centers to which he owes his seat. We are facing a helpless, will-less character who denies today what he said yesterday and is constantly being adjusted by his mayors. As we waited with one last hope for him to get better every day and pull himself together a little, Mr. Özel is being dragged downhill like a truck with no brakes.
BOYCOTT REACTION TO ÖZEL
CHP voters have started to look for 'Bay Kemal' (Mr. Kemal) with a candle in a year. You see it too; while Israel was raining bombs on Palestinians for 471 days, they didn't even utter the word boycott for Zionist-supporter companies. Now they have come out and are talking about boycotting the country's local and national brands. The path Özel is taking is not a path, and his ears do not hear the words coming out of his mouth.
Is there such a thing as a main opposition party leader who says 'I will harm the Turkish economy'? Would such a politician be of any use to his own party? Who would believe that someone who can form such senseless sentences acts with reason? I want everyone to know this; who is involved in this corruption cycle will emerge in time. The octopus, whose head is in Istanbul, will soon be seen where its arms reach."
