Breaking News... CHP announces its decision: No visit to Imralı

The CHP has announced its decision regarding the visit to Imralı by the commission established in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) as part of the new process the government calls a 'Terror-Free Turkey'.

CHP WILL NOT GO TO IMRALI

The CHP has decided not to go to Imralı.

CHP Group Deputy Chairman Murat Emir stated that they have decided not to visit Imralı.

Emir stated that they will continue to remain in the commission, adding, "Our party will bring peace to this country."

"I WILL GO ON BEHALF OF THE MHP"

Shortly before the commission meeting began, Feti Yıldız of the MHP made a new statement.

In his statement today, Yıldız said that the decision regarding Imralı should be taken by a vote within the commission. Feti Yıldız stated, "An open vote should be held; a qualified majority is not required."

Stating that the CHP is a deep-rooted party and the issue is serious, Feti Yıldız said, "We would like the CHP to join us and for the decision to be taken unanimously. It is the CHP's own discretion, but we would like them to participate in the Imrali visit."

Yıldız announced that the visit to the island would take place even without the CHP and that he would represent the MHP himself.

BAHÇELİ: I WILL GO IF NECESSARY

The visit had become the most important item on the political agenda following MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli's statement, "I will go to Imrali if necessary."

The DEM Party is also in favor of the visit taking place.

Meetings were held on this issue yesterday in both the AKP and the CHP. Executives from both parties came together to determine their stance on the matter.
