CHP Leader Özgür Özel made statements in front of the CHP Istanbul Provincial Presidency, where a trustee was appointed.

The statements of CHP Chairman Özgür Özel are as follows:

"Today, we were in Istanbul for the rally where we would hold our 52nd major protest within our normal work schedule.

Nehir's father was not present at the registration, but you were all there as her family; I thank each and every one of you.

The building behind us is the father's hearth. A father's hearth is not a place for anyone's quarrels. The father's hearth has only one owner, and the title deed is registered to him; that is Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk.

This is one of the office rooms representing the position we inherited from Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk.

Where does the CHP Provincial Chairman work? The Provincial Chairman works at the Provincial Building and acts on behalf of the Chairman. My deputy, my namesake, your comrade is Özgür Çelik.

Özgür Çelik is at the helm of his duty as the Istanbul Provincial Chairman. Before going to Silivri to visit our elected presidential candidate and the elected mayor of Istanbul, I came here to visit our Provincial Chairman.

"WE DO NOT RECOGNIZE THIS DECISION"

The decision taken yesterday is null and void both legally and politically; it is an usurpation of authority and a decision that is impossible to accept in terms of Turkey's legal system. Politically, it is the members of a political party and the delegates they elect who decide who will represent the party's chairman in that province. This decision was determined 2 years ago.

What has been done is a move that risks throwing Turkey's legal system into chaos and calls into question every single certificate of election issued in accordance with procedure in Turkey today.

We are facing a court that usurps authority, treating every single Civil Court of First Instance as if it were an appellate authority for the Supreme Election Council (YSK), even when Constitutional Court (AYM) rulings clearly state, 'The YSK's decision is final, even I cannot review it.'

For us to recognize this decision, to see the duties of the individuals appointed by this decision as legitimate, or to accept someone who has not been elected as the Provincial Chairman in Istanbul would be a denial of the election and the ballot box.

In this situation, of course, we do not recognize this decision; our provincial chairman and his administration continue their duties.

"ANOTHER COURT COULD SUSPEND THE PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION"

This weekend, just as they prevented us from holding that primary election while we were setting up ballot boxes for Mayor Ekrem on March 23, they tried to create controversy from Istanbul while neighborhood elections were set to conclude across all of Turkey this weekend.

Today, the most meticulous applications, objections, and necessary interventions that need to be made to all legal channels are being carried out. Beyond this, the ongoing process is under the authority of the district election boards and the YSK. Outside of this, no one holding a certificate of election remains secure under any other definition of authority.

Another Civil Court of First Instance could suspend the certificates of election given to any political party's chairman, members of parliament, or mayors, and furthermore, could suspend the Presidential election and appoint a board of trustees in its place.

Such authority is neither defined by law nor is it in accordance with the Constitution. As the CHP, we are determined to continue managing the process within the scope of the YSK and district election boards, with the authority derived from the laws, and we continue to assert our will. No one can stop us on this path."
