US President Donald Trump announced that the ongoing war with Iran could end in the near future.

Speaking at a press conference on Monday, Trump stated that the military operation launched by the US and Israel on February 28 has largely achieved its objectives. Trump expressed that the clashes would not end this week, but would end “very soon.”

Making statements at the Trump National Doral club in Florida, Trump claimed that Iran’s military capacity has been seriously weakened within the scope of the operations.

The US President argued that more than 50 Iranian warships have been destroyed and that Iran’s air force and air defense systems have been largely neutralized.

Trump said, “We are making great progress toward achieving our military objective.”

In his statement, Trump also mentioned that the US has not yet struck some critical targets in Iran.

Stating that sensitive points such as electrical infrastructure have not been targeted so far, Trump said they could take tougher military steps if necessary.

The US President stated that the war would end once Iran is rendered unable to use weapons against the US, Israel, and their allies for a long time.

STRAIT OF HORMUZ WARNING

On the other hand, Iranian officials announced that oil tankers passing through the Strait of Hormuz, which is of critical importance for global oil trade, could face the risk of attack.

In contrast, Trump argued that the global energy supply would become more secure in the long term.

The US President also said that they would give a much harsher response if Iran cuts off the flow of oil.
