Breaking News... Detention order issued for Özgür Çelik

A detention order has been issued for CHP Istanbul Provincial Chair Özgür Çelik.

Özgür Çelik's statement will be taken regarding allegations of election fraud in the Istanbul Provincial Presidency election.

Çelik is attending the funeral ceremony of Ahmet Gültekin at the Edirnekapı Martyrs' Cemetery in Istanbul. The Governor of Istanbul is also present at the ceremony.

STATEMENT FROM THE CHIEF PUBLIC PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE

The statement issued by the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office included the following: "Regarding the reports received by our Chief Public Prosecutor's Office concerning allegations that election fraud was committed in exchange for benefits during the Republican People's Party (CHP) Istanbul Provincial Presidency election held in October 2023, necessary instructions have been given to the teams of the Istanbul Provincial Police Department's Financial Crimes Investigation Bureau to take the statements of the suspects, including Republican People's Party Istanbul Provincial Chair Özgür ÇELİK, on 08/07/2025, and the investigation is ongoing within the scope of the file numbered 2025/53885 being conducted by our Chief Public Prosecutor's Office."
