BREAKING NEWS... Erdoğan's 'historic' statement leads to alliance with DEM Party: 'We will cook this process together'
President Erdoğan made significant statements at the AKP's Kızılcahamam camp. Erdoğan said, "We will sit down and talk without weapons in between. When hearts are united, borders disappear. As a first step, we will establish a commission in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) and begin discussing the legal requirements of the process under the roof of Parliament."
President and AKP Chairman Erdoğan made statements at his party's Kızılcahamam camp. Following the decision by a group from the terrorist organization PKK to lay down their arms yesterday, Erdoğan gave important messages regarding the process. Stating that the 'Turkey without terror' process is not a give-and-take process, Erdoğan sent the message, 'Now we will talk face to face.'
Here is Erdoğan's speech:
My dear nation, esteemed members of our MKYK and other central boards, valuable deputies, my dear comrades and fellow travelers, I greet you with my most heartfelt feelings. I am very happy to be with you at the 32nd of our AK Party Consultation and Evaluation Meetings. I send my greetings to all my comrades and fellow travelers who run with passion for the growth of the AK Party.
I respectfully greet all my fellow travelers and comrades who serve selflessly at every level, seeing the Century of Turkey as a blessed dawn, and I pray that the Lord may make our affection eternal.
We have sent our comrade and fellow traveler, my advisor Yiğit Bulut, to the afterlife. He will be buried in Karacaahmet. We cannot attend the ceremony due to our consultation meeting in Kızılcahamam, but our organization will attend. He suffered a severe illness. When I visited him, he was in a serious condition. There is a destiny above destiny. We saw that he was cautious, we saw that he was in submission. May he rest in peace.
We are holding the 32nd of our consultation meeting, which has become a brand in Turkish politics, today. It is a meeting themed around leadership. In our sessions that we will organize today and tomorrow, there will be consultations on different topics from security to development, from economy to politics.
Our participating friends will convey their views in a democratic environment, submit their proposals and criticisms, and thus the light of truth will emerge. Since our establishment, we have carried out our work with common sense, by consulting our nation. We have always been in pursuit of better, effective and efficient work, and serving the nation in the best way possible. Our consultation meeting will serve as a ground where we hold a mirror to our party, hold ourselves accountable, and take a snapshot of all issues with precise adjustment, just like the previous ones.
47 years ago, the separatist terrorist organization carried out its first terrorist act. We gave 2 martyrs here. 9 of our civilian citizens were also injured. Nearly 50 thousand of our citizens lost their lives in terrorist incidents. We have not forgotten them, and we will not forget them.
Following its first act in 1984, terrorism in Turkey escalated day by day. Many governments have come and gone since that day. All of them said they would root out terrorism. The state's misguided practices played a role in this. Unsolved murders, white Renault Toros vehicles, burned villages, and families forced to migrate overnight were among these misguided practices. Instead of ending terrorism, it fueled it. We all paid the price for these mistakes together. Turkey became unstable due to these terrorist attacks. It caused immense damage to our country's peace, unity, and brotherhood.
We will not allow the honor and pride of the Republic of Turkey to be trampled upon. We carried out the 'Terror-Free Turkey' project with this goal in mind.
I say it clearly: the 'Terror-Free Turkey' project is not the result of a negotiation, a bargain, or a give-and-take process.
We have not forgotten our martyrs, and we will not forget them. Our homeland will exist forever, and our crescent-and-star flag will wave freely in our skies for eternity. Our martyrs, who watered the soil of the homeland with their blood and painted our crescent-and-star flag with their crimson blood, will always be our crown jewels.
"TODAY A NEW PAGE HAS BEEN TURNED IN HISTORY"
We have developed our defense industry and produced our own weapons for counter-terrorism without remaining dependent on foreign sources. We have brought our borders under control through cross-border operations. As of yesterday, the 47-year-old scourge of terrorism has hopefully entered a process of coming to an end.
As of yesterday, Turkey has begun to close a long, painful, agonizing page filled with tears. Today is a new day; today a new page has been turned in history. Today, the doors of a Great Turkey have been flung wide open.
We are closely following every initiative that will stop the bloodshed, dry the tears of mothers, alleviate suffering, and strengthen brotherhood. I say it clearly: the 'Terror-Free Turkey' project we have been following recently is not the result of a negotiation, a bargain, or a give-and-take process. Everyone should be certain of this: we will not allow the honor of the Republic of Turkey to be trampled upon, and we will never let its head be bowed. We are pursuing our 'Terror-Free Turkey' project with this understanding.
"NO ONE CAN QUESTION THE NATIONALISM OF BAHÇELİ OR MYSELF"
It is no one's place to question the nationalism, patriotism, and love for Turkey of our alliance partner, MHP Chairman Bahçeli, and his staff. It is no one's place to question the nationalism, patriotism, and love for Turkey of our alliance partner, MHP Chairman Bahçeli, and his staff. No one can question the nationalism, patriotism, and love for Turkey of myself or the AK cadre. This is not anyone's place, nor is it their right.
We have not been, and will not be, involved in anything that is not for the benefit of Turkey. Today, our understanding, our policy, and our direction are solely and exclusively for the benefit of Turkey. Whatever we do, we do it for Turkey; whatever we do, we do it for our nation; whatever we do, we do it for our independence and our future.
Turkey has won, my nation has won. Every one of our 86 million citizens—Turks, Kurds, Arabs—has won. The Republic of Turkey stands tall; in fact, it is much more powerful and magnificent today than it was yesterday, and most importantly, it is much more hopeful for its future. The Republic of Turkey stands tall; in fact, it is much more powerful and magnificent today than it was yesterday, and most importantly, it is much more hopeful for its future."
Do you have a problem, my Kurdish brother? We will sit down and talk without weapons in between.
Do you have an issue, my Alevi brother? We will solve it through dialogue.
Believe me, abundance will come to our table, and peace will come to our vast Turkish household. With that abundance, we will overcome every obstacle and look to the future.
Those who appeared to be against terrorism also profited from it. They attempted to derive rent for their own dirty ambitions from terrorist attacks. The doors to that rent are closing. Because they are losing the toy they held in their hands.
They are trying to break the nation's budding hopes by spreading fear. You will see that terrorism will end, and they will all be left unemployed. Today, as terrorism ends, the exploitation of terrorism is also coming to an end.
When we formed an alliance, no one could compete with our civilization or our knowledge. If the Turk, the Kurd, and the Arab are one, if they are together, then there is a Turk, there is a Kurd, and there is an Arab. When they separate and divide, there is defeat, disaster, and sorrow. Jerusalem was conquered by Turks, Kurds, and Arabs under the command of Saladin. Turkey has won, my nation has won. Every one of our 86 million citizens—Turk, Kurd, and Arab—has won.
The Republic of Turkey stands tall; in fact, it is much more powerful and magnificent today than it was yesterday, and most importantly, it is much more hopeful for its future. The Republic of Turkey stands tall; in fact, it is much more powerful and magnificent today than it was yesterday, and most importantly, it is much more hopeful for its future.
Now we will sit down and talk, not with weapons. We will talk face-to-face, heart-to-heart, and we will solve every issue of ours by talking. Right-wing, left-wing, Alevi, Kurd, rich, or poor—every citizen is a first-class citizen.
Not only for our Kurd citizens, but also for our Kurd brotherTheir issue is also our issue. We are discussing thisprocess with them, andthey are also very happy.
"WE WILL ESTABLISHA COMMISSION IN THE TBMM"
What our Parliamentwill contribute to the processthe serious contributionsof the processin termsofits critical importancethatit will be seenI am in.I hope for the broadest possibleparticipation and for our Parliament to support this auspiciousprocess. We will cook this process together with the AK Party, MHP, and DEM delegations and carry it into the future. In thisprocess, wecame together with the late Sırrı Süreyya, Pervin Buldan, and Mithat Sancar. We sat down and talked.it means we have talked. More beautiful things will happen."
When hearts are one, borders disappear. As a first step, we will establish a commission in the TBMM, and we will start to discuss the legal requirements of the process."
