Following the meeting, Özel and Dervişoğlu held a press conference.

Speaking on early election debates, İYİ Party leader Dervişoğlu said, "I have previously expressed our view on early elections. I am not in favor of having an early election debate. I believe that options that would lead to Erdoğan's re-election should not be discussed in politics. The CHP has made statements in the past. An election held in 2027 is not an early election. I want to state that as the İYİ Party, we will not approve of this. The path to Erdoğan's candidacy should not be paved."

Regarding the fake diploma investigation launched against IMM Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, Dervişoğlu said, "İmamoğlu is one of Erdoğan's rivals. Erdoğan will do everything in his power to ensure İmamoğlu cannot run as a candidate."

Following Dervişoğlu's statements, CHP leader Özgür Özel spoke.

CHP Chairman Özgür Özel stated, "We shared our thoughts on rescuing Turkey from the difficulties it is currently facing. I thank all the good people in the İYİ Party."

Speaking on the "diploma" investigation opened against IMM Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, Özgür Özel said the following:

"The diploma investigation is a confession of helplessness. Mr. İmamoğlu has no legal issues regarding this matter. This will eventually come back to haunt Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. This will eventually bring Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's own diploma into question. While his schoolmates cannot be found, İmamoğlu has proof.

There is a nuance between the İYİ Party and the CHP regarding early elections. The CHP's desire for an early election should not be interpreted as approving Erdoğan's re-candidacy. We have stated many times that we are not on board with an early election held to make Erdoğan a candidate."

ÖZEL'S RESPONSE TO THE AKP ON 'POLLS'

"It doesn't work with imaginary polls. In the latest poll I received, there is a 4.2-point difference; a polling company that showed the AK Party slightly ahead last month has shown the CHP as the leading party by one point this month. The chairman of the Justice and Development Party was saying they would engage in self-criticism. The CHP was a good example of how to engage in self-criticism after the 2023 elections. However, what did we see that was new at the Justice Party's congress? You cannot make something new out of someone else's old. This is not called renewal; it is called a transfer fee."
