Following the cancellation of the CHP Istanbul Provincial Congress, Provincial Chairman Özgür Çelik was removed from office. Gürsel Tekin, who was appointed as a trustee by court order, said, 'We have started our duty.' Gürsel Tekin's statement, 'As of today, my colleagues and I have started our duty. Presidency does not necessarily have to be conducted from the building. During my three-and-a-half-year term as provincial chairman, I spent at most 40-45 days in our party building. Politics is not done by sitting in a building. There are 7 people I know who are confessors and are still party members. They are not being touched,' also drew attention.
The CHP's Istanbul Provincial Congress, held on October 8, 2023, was cancelled by a court order. In line with this decision, the Istanbul 45th Civil Court of First Instance removed Provincial Chairman Özgür Çelik and his administration from office.
TEKİN APPOINTED AS TRUSTEE
Following the court's decision, Gürsel Tekin was brought in as a trustee to the CHP Istanbul Provincial Presidency. Tekin officially started his duty following the court order.
"WE HAVE STARTED OUR DUTY"
Speaking to Sözcü, Gürsel Tekin evaluated the process and made a brief statement. Tekin declared, "We have started our duty."
