BREAKING NEWS... Harsh message to the judiciary from Özgür Özel: 'That octopus's tentacle was born before its head'

CHP Chairman Özgür Özel made statements to the press following his visit to Ekrem İmamoğlu at Silivri Prison. During the meeting, Özel made assessments regarding both the imprisoned CHP politicians and the ongoing judicial processes.

"We are working for TRT; the man who will break rating records doesn't come here, expose the empty space on TRT," Özel began, stating that he had met with imprisoned Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, Adana Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Zeydan Karalar, Şişli Mayor Resul Emrah Şahan, Rıza Akpolat, Çağla Demir, Kadriye Kasapoğlu, Oya Tekin, Mustafa Akın, Baki Aydöner, and Aykut Erdoğdu.

"THE FILE IN ADANA IS THE OCTOPUS'S TENTACLE"

Speaking about the arrest process of Adana Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Zeydan Karalar, Özel used harsh expressions:

“That Adana tentacle of the octopus was born before the octopus's head. Can a head emerge from a tentacle? The file must be separated immediately and sent back to Adana. Are the Adana Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, the judges, and prosecutors in Adana unable to distribute justice that the file is being moved here?”

HE POINTED TO THE İZMİR EXAMPLE

Özgür Özel also touched upon the corruption investigations in İzmir and criticized the arrest decisions in Adana by using that process as an example, continuing his words as follows:

“Look, there is a file with 150 people in İzmir. The indictment was written in 10 days. The judge took it before him and said the evidence has been collected and the allegations require a trial. And he said this: 'What you call a trial should be without detention.' He referred everyone in both files to be tried without detention.”

“THIS PROSECUTOR IS A PROSECUTOR, AND THE OTHER IS A PROSECUTOR, BUT ONE DISTRIBUTES JUSTICE”

Citing the approach of the İzmir Chief Public Prosecutor to the process as an example, Özel criticized the prosecutor in Adana without naming him:

“Now, if I were to come out and criticize the İzmir Chief Public Prosecutor, I would look ridiculous. He is a prosecutor, and that one is a prosecutor. But one is doing his job. He prepared his indictment, he didn't force anyone to slander each other. He didn't find false witnesses or secret witnesses. He didn't put a White Toros in front of him, nor did he use tree names or animal names. He is doing his job with a desk, a safe, and a Mustafa Kemal Pasha behind him. What am I going to say to him?”

Stating that İmamoğlu is being held on suspicion of flight, Özel said, "If Ekrem İmamoğlu were to flee, Tayyip Bey would have lokma distributed in the Palace garden."

"THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS CHP WILL JOIN THE COMMISSION UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES"

When asked by a journalist, "What do you say about the claim that CHP has a condition regarding the commission, specifically the release of the imprisoned mayors?" Özel gave the following response:

"It is essential that everyone be tried without detention; no one can say that we set such a precondition to join the commission. It is only regarding Ekrem Bey; it is clear where Ekrem Bey and we stand on the solution to this problem. The idea of the commission belongs to us; this commission should solve the Kurdish issue within the framework of democratization. We are not anyone's errand boy. We are ready to provide the highest contribution for this. Democracy in Diyarbakır, autocracy in Istanbul. We sat down and talked with Abdullah Öcalan for the consensus of the second century for what comes next. On the other hand, Resul Emrah Şahan made one person of DEM origin a municipal council member, and from there, the City Consensus; Resul Emrah Şahan should rot here, while 200 PKK members are released on the other side. If you bring together things that are contrary to conscience and reason, the social conscience will reject this. The condition you speak of is not a concrete, crude condition like, 'we will join the commission but release this friend of ours.'

We need to know what we will see when September-October comes regarding the roadmap of this commission. Numan Kurtulmuş has positive approaches on this matter. Let no one think that there is such a thing as CHP will join the commission under any circumstances."

"ERDOĞAN SHOULD HAVE THANKED US"

Özel also touched upon the approval of the Eurofighter agreement. Explaining his contacts with Germany, Özel said, "Under normal circumstances, Erdoğan should have thanked us."
