Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu visited the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce (ITO).

Responding to journalists' questions after the visit, İmamoğlu made statements regarding the current agenda.

"THE NATION WILL GIVE ITS ANSWER TO THREATS ON MARCH 31"

İmamoğlu said the following regarding Erdoğan's statements in Ordu:

“If he wins, what kind of threatening processes he will carry out on behalf of our nation has already started to be commented on. He should leave aside the price hikes and rising inflation that will come after the election; people are already feeling that anxiety about natural gas delivery. Moreover, they were the ones who have been governing Ordu for years; what are they threatening? It is like a joke, but I think that the nation, which is the master, will give a serious lesson in democracy against these kinds of discourses that threaten the nation and assume they are the masters of the nation, especially in Istanbul and all over Turkey, just as it did in 2019, on March 31. It will give such a lesson that it will cause them to work harder during their remaining time in power. I would like to warn my fellow citizens who vote for the AK Party from here.”

RESPONSE TO ERDOĞAN'S 'DO NOT FALL INTO DESPAIR' POST

Regarding Erdoğan addressing CHP voters by saying, "Never fall into despair. You are not without alternatives," İmamoğlu replied, “Our voters are not in despair; we are having very hopeful conversations. He should watch me at the market, he should see me among the tradesmen on the street; these are places he cannot go. When he is not among the people, he might be mistaking the despair of the people in his own close circle for CHP supporters.”

Regarding the Homeland Party (Memleket Partisi) fielding a candidate in Istanbul, İmamoğlu said, “Best of luck, what can I say.”
