Breaking News... Message from Özgür Özel regarding Çağlayan: Call for support for İmamoğlu
CHP Chairman Özgür Özel has invited citizens to the Çağlayan Courthouse ahead of Ekrem İmamoğlu's testimony tomorrow.
CHP's presidential candidate and Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu will testify at the Çağlayan Courthouse tomorrow as part of the "espionage" investigation launched against him. İmamoğlu's testimony will be taken at 11:00 AM. CHP leader Özgür Özel, who is in Switzerland attending the Social Democratic Party congress, made statements regarding the matter and called on citizens to gather in front of the courthouse.
Stating that the accusations directed at İmamoğlu are unacceptable, Özel said, "Ekrem İmamoğlu's crime is defeating Erdoğan. That is why all kinds of accusations are being made against him. When the terrorism and corruption accusations did not stick, now he is being accused of espionage. This is an inconceivable situation."
CALL FOR SUPPORT FOR İMAMOĞLU
Özel emphasized that İmamoğlu should not be left alone in the face of these accusations and stated, "I will be at the Çağlayan Courthouse tomorrow morning at 11:00 AM. I will stand by my presidential candidate. I invite all Istanbulites to support the mayor they elected and the future president."
Claiming that the accusations against İmamoğlu are a political move, Özel said, "The goal is to keep İmamoğlu in prison and prevent him from being out. These cases are not a search for justice, but a political operation."
Calling on citizens to protect Turkey's democracy and support İmamoğlu, Özel said, "We must raise our voices against this slander of espionage."
