BREAKING NEWS... President Erdoğan: We have not given up on the F-35

President and AKP Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan stated, "We held a productive meeting with my friend Trump; we discussed many topics ranging from our bilateral relations to the NATO partnership, as well as regional and global issues."

President Erdoğan answered journalists' questions upon his return from the NATO Heads of State and Government Summit held in The Hague, Netherlands. Making assessments regarding the questions, Erdoğan said the following:

QUESTION- I would like to ask a question regarding the “Terror-Free Turkey” process. Actually, the recent developments have once again shown how important and valuable this process is. Is the “Terror-Free Turkey” process proceeding as you planned? I would like to ask this, sir. Specifically, will we be able to see some concrete steps regarding laying down arms in the coming period? How will the new situation emerging regarding Iran and the new equation reflect on the “Terror-Free Turkey” process?

"As the People's Alliance, we are striving to keep the efforts toward the 'Terror-Free Turkey' goal away from external influences. We are continuing on our path in a constructive, determined, patient, and optimistic manner.

Our security units are closely monitoring the issue of laying down arms. A great consensus has also formed in Parliament; support for the process is at the highest level. This issue should not be dragged into the wearisome polemical arena of daily politics. In a national issue like this, national sensitivities must come to the fore. Look, everything comes and goes on the political stage, but playing a role in the resolution of such a problem will be remembered with gratitude in the national memory forever. This is how we view the 'Terror-Free Turkey' process."

PRAISE FOR BAHÇELİ AND THE DEM DELEGATION

"We find the visionary statements of MHP Chairman Mr. Bahçeli and the responsible attitude of the DEM delegation to be very valuable for the success of the process. I would like to express with great satisfaction: Turkey has now covered significant ground on the path to making its internal front more robust. The process is not yet complete, and it is essential to be cautious against provocations. The recent events occurring around us have shown how accurate our call to strengthen the internal front was. What has happened has revealed the need for a 'Terror-Free Turkey' in our country and has increased support. From now on, we will take stronger steps in our country's march toward a bright future."
