Breaking news... Second investigation into Özgür Özel! Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office takes action

An investigation was launched yesterday against Republican People's Party (CHP) Chairman Özgür Özel due to the remarks he made regarding Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor Akın Gürlek.

In the statement made by the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, it was stated that the grounds for the investigation were "threatening a person performing a judicial duty to prevent them from performing their duty" and "publicly insulting a public official due to their duty."

SECOND INVESTIGATION COMES FROM ANKARA

The Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has also launched an investigation due to his remarks about Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor Akın Gürlek.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Speaking at the 'Defending the National Will' meeting organized by the Republican People's Party (CHP) in Gaziosmanpaşa, Özgür Özel harshly criticized President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

Describing the investigations into the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) as a 'setup,' Özel also criticized Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor Akın Gürlek. Reacting to the footage of those detained in the İBB operations being taken to the hospital, Özel said the following:

"The people he appointed are carrying out a coup not in military uniforms, but in prosecutors' robes. We will resist this coup!

They tried to discredit our friends by having them escorted by police. Yesterday, those images took Turkey back 60, 70, 80 years.

Whoever gave the order for those images, I will have no peace until I see them grabbed by the collar and their head slammed to the ground.

Prosecutor, you hit a hard rock, son! I will come, I will tear it all down, pull yourself together. Don't make me lose my temper; we will gather in a way that we won't be scattered. I will not see that indignity again.

I am telling Erdoğan, I am telling anyone in the AK Party who will pull themselves together. From here on, this will end badly, get him out of here!"
