Breaking News... Statement from DEM Party following Imralı contacts!

The DEM Party has released a written statement following a meeting held at Imralı Prison with Abdullah Öcalan, the leader of the terrorist organization PKK.

In the statement issued by the DEM Party, it was stated, "Everyone has a responsibility to fulfill the requirements of the process."

Today, as a delegation, we held a very productive meeting with Mr. Abdullah Öcalan at Imralı Prison that lasted two and a half hours.

Mr. Öcalan was in very good health and spirits. During our meeting, he emphasized that the process is entering a new phase. He stated that with the new steps to be taken, responsibilities fall upon everyone, upon all of us, to fulfill the requirements of the process.

He expressed that he attaches great importance to the meeting our delegation members will hold with the President, stating that this meeting is of a historical nature. Similarly, he emphasized that the commission to be established in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) will also play a major role in the direction of peace and resolution.

We observed that his hope, trust, and belief in the contribution this process will make to Turkey's democratization process as a whole are extremely strong.

During the meeting, we received information that soldiers lost their lives due to methane gas poisoning in the territory of the Kurdistan Regional Government today. This incident has caused deep sorrow for Mr. Öcalan and for all of us. On this occasion, we wish God's mercy upon those who lost their lives and offer our condolences to their families and loved ones.
