Republican People's Party (CHP) Chairman Özgür Özel, who attended the event and delivered a speech, reacted to the situation of the imprisoned mayors and employees whose indictments have not even been written for a long time.

Özgür Özel criticized the lack of progress in the process, stating, “We have friends who have been waiting for their spouse's indictment for 8 months. The families of our mayors and employees, for whom indictments have not yet been written, are here.”

The CHP Chairman also reacted sharply to allegations of manipulation and the use of stock footage in the media, particularly on TRT Haber, following the operation at the Gaziosmanpaşa Municipality. Taking the TRT Haber microphone in his hand, Özel said, “We didn't have the footage, we called and asked, 'How could you do this?' They said it was stock footage. We asked, 'Are you not ashamed?'”

'WE ARE TIRED OF LIES AND SLANDER'

Emphasizing that they are forced to struggle against constant lies and slander, Özel criticized the operations of security forces with the words, “We are tired and exhausted from lies and slander. There is no snake here in front of you; the snakes are clear. Those who show up at the door of a mayor elected by the people at five in the morning, at an hour when even a snake wouldn't bite, are clear. Which one of them did you call and they didn't come?”

REACTION TO THE PROTECTION GRANTED TO AZİZ İHSAN AKTAŞ

Finally, addressing the fact that Aziz İhsan Aktaş, who is accused of leading a criminal organization, is being tried without arrest and has been assigned state protection, Özel expressed that he finds it unjust that Aktaş, who would not serve time even if convicted, is released, while politicians remain imprisoned. Özel stated, “Zeydan Karalar and Oya Tekin are our friends who would have no remaining sentence to serve even if they were convicted now, yet they are imprisoned. This is not acceptable, friends. This is a political struggle, not a legal one. Aziz İhsan Aktaş, who is being tried for 700 years, is sleeping at home, while our friends who would have no remaining sentence to serve even if convicted are lying inside. The state provides 10 bodyguards to protect this crime machine called Aziz İhsan Aktaş. This is a disgrace.”
