Breaking News... Support from Devlet Bahçeli for the rally to be held for Öcalan!

MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli said regarding the rally that the DEM Party will hold on January 4 for Öcalan, the leader of the terrorist organization PKK, "In my opinion, there is no harmful aspect to the rally that the DEM Party will hold on January 4, 2026."

Drawing attention to Öcalan's February 27 call, Bahçeli also used the expressions, "It is clear that there is no demand for release from prison and to regain his freedom."

The statements of MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli are as follows:

First of all, I must say that within the legitimate boundaries of freedom of expression and thought, and within the scope of the provisions of the current law and constitution, everyone and every political party has the right to assemble, demonstrate, and hold open-air meetings.

The nature of democracy and its generally accepted principles are clear and known in this regard.

In an environment where the CHP has held 75 rallies to date, and other parties, large and small, organize hall or open-air meetings on every ground and platform, the DEM Party holding a rally is not a matter to be exaggerated or made an issue of.

In my opinion, there is no harmful aspect to the rally that the DEM Party will hold on January 4, 2026.

Of course, they can gather and voice their expectations, demands, and thoughts.

What is wrong with that?

I see and value the determined steps of the DEM Party toward becoming a party of Turkey.

However, I hope that the following will not be forgotten; it is clear that in the February 27, 2025 call of the founding leadership of the PKK, there is no demand for release from prison and to regain his freedom.

This call is the only binding one for us.

Inspired by this, I assess that the DEM Party and all components of the separatist terrorist organization taking an attitude and stance contrary to the February 27 call will slow down, even if it does not disrupt, the goal of a "Terror-Free Turkey."

Let them gather on January 4, 2026, and announce their demands; I have nothing to say to that.

However, let no one lose sight of the February 27 call, and let no one serve to overshadow this call.

On this occasion, I greet my brothers and sisters in Diyarbakır with longing, respect, and affection.

I deem it particularly necessary to share that attributing extraordinary meaning to an ordinary development will have no result.
