Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mansur Yavaş issued a written statement regarding the recent discussions in the CHP concerning the party congress and the judiciary.

Criticizing the harsh rhetoric used among party members, Yavaş emphasized that unity, not conflict, is necessary under the current conditions the country is facing.

We are going through such a period today that we have neither the chance nor the remedy other than to be one and together.

I have always said: This is not just an issue for our party, but the responsibility of all opposition parties.

Because if we do not act together, we will lose not only today but also our future.

Even our grandchildren will not forgive us.

The government has been conducting a smear campaign against our party and our municipalities for a long time.

While carrying out this campaign, it is trying to corner our party by using both the judiciary, which should be impartial, and the bureaucracy, which should remain neutral.

11 of our mayors, including our Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor, are in prison. There is not even an indictment prepared against them.

Now, with things as they are, there is a lawsuit filed against our party's 38th Ordinary Congress. As a legal professional, I must state that if this case is viewed within the framework of the law, it is impossible for the government to achieve the result it desires. Because the only authorized constitutional institution is the YSK (Supreme Election Council).

However, an expectation is being created in a politicized judicial order. What saddens me the most is that this expectation has created turbulence and debate within our party.

As the Mayor of Ankara Metropolitan Municipality, I have two major goals.

1- To serve the people of Ankara and not to waste their trust as long as I am in this office, which I reached with the favor of the people of Ankara.

2- To work like a soldier to end the presidential regime imposed on our country by the People's Alliance and to ensure our country's transition back to a democratic parliamentary system.

The debates carried out by our party members or some individuals who appear to be party members around our current Chairman and our previous Chairman, by associating them with the lawsuit process on June 30, cannot contribute to our country's struggle for democratization and justice, nor to the deepening poverty problem of our citizens.

Moreover, it is absolutely unacceptable for these discussions to be conducted in a style that does not align with our party culture and with expressions that amount to insults directed at our previous Chairman.

Only the Republican People's Party can solve our country's problems, and this nation needs the CHP. For this, it is a necessity that we avoid giving the impression that we are struggling with internal problems. It is essential that these discussions, which have been going on for a week and which the members of the Republican People's Party are not at all pleased with, be ended in some way.

My greatest desire, and what should be, is for our previous chairman, our current chairman, and all party members to stand as one and whole, like a single fist, during this process. Otherwise, there is no point in any of us, including myself, engaging in politics. This is all I want to convey.

It was alleged that Mansur Yavaş, who visited Kılıçdaroğlu along with Vahap Seçer and Engin Özkoç, threatened to quit after the words of the former Chairman and said, 'I will quit politics'.

Making a written statement after the allegations, Yavaş said, "We are going through such a period today that we have neither the chance nor the remedy other than to be one and together.
