Bülent Arınç addresses claims regarding Abdullah Gül's candidacy and new party rumors

Former Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) Bülent Arınç made significant assessments regarding the political agenda during the Suriçi Istanbul Meetings. He also responded to questions about recent claims that the 11th President, Abdullah Gül, would establish a new party and run for the presidency again.

Arınç put an end to these frequently discussed claims by stating, "Abdullah Gül has no intention of becoming a presidential candidate again. Friends like Haşim Kılıç and Hüseyin Çelik are holding 'Democracy Meetings,' but they have no intention of forming a party. Mr. Abdullah is not involved in these matters."

In the same program, Arınç also shared his views regarding his criticisms of government policies, emphasizing that he is not an opposition figure, stating, "I am not an opposition figure, but I use my right to criticize; I have the right to do so. I am the owner of this house."

Touching upon the recent increase in attacks by the US and Israel against Iran, Arınç evaluated the situation with the words, "As much as Trump loves life, they (the Iranians) love death just as much. It is a struggle between those who love life and those who love death."

Drawing attention to the problems experienced in the judiciary in the past, he said, "There was juristocracy, meaning rule by judges. The old Constitutional Court was making life difficult for us. In the past, when a lawsuit was filed, we knew what the outcome would be. They were filing lawsuits accordingly."

SUPPORT FOR THE RESOLUTION PROCESS

Arınç stated that he supports the second resolution process, referred to as a 'Terror-Free Turkey.' Expressing that President Erdoğan is acting cautiously due to past developments, Arınç said, "Tayyip Bey is approaching it cautiously. Because of the organization's betrayal in the past period. The perception that the organization cannot be trusted is still strong. The evacuation of the caves has not yet been realized. It may be delayed, but it must be resolved."
