Call from İmamoğlu to AKP and MHP voters: 'For a future in peace...'

Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor and CHP presidential candidate Ekrem İmamoğlu, who was imprisoned on March 23, made a notable statement on his social media account. In his post, İmamoğlu drew attention to lawlessness and emphasized democracy and justice.  

In his post, İmamoğlu described the events of March 19 as a “civil coup attempt”, stating that this attempt targeted democracy due to a group of people's “personal ambitions and desire for power”.  

"THE TURKISH JUDICIARY IS BEING SEVERELY DAMAGED"

Stating that many unlawful practices, from dawn raids to secret witnesses, are harming the judiciary, İmamoğlu said, “Just like in the election cancelled on May 6, 2019, all the allegations put forward today will turn out to be baseless”.  

"IT STARTED WITH THE CANCELLATION OF A DIPLOMA AND CONTINUED WITH SLANDER"

İmamoğlu said that the events that caused society to lose faith in institutions during this process began with the cancellation of a diploma and continued with slander. He stated that the economic cost of these mistakes reached 50 billion dollars and that the nation was forced to pay this price.  

"WE WILL EITHER BECOME IMPOVERISHED OR WE WILL PROSPER"

Stating that the nation is at a critical crossroads, İmamoğlu said, “This path is a path based on rights, law, justice, and the national will”. Emphasizing youth and human resources in particular, İmamoğlu stated that a new era would be possible by ending waste and prioritizing merit.  

"I AM ADDRESSING AKP AND MHP VOTERS"

Addressing AKP and MHP voters in his post, İmamoğlu called for unity and solidarity, saying, “We must walk together towards a beautiful future in peace and tranquility. We have no choice but to try to find the truth”.
