Cevdet Yılmaz's statement on the 'peace dinner' with Ahmet Türk! 'If it were today...'

Responding to questions from the opposition during the parliamentary budget deliberations for the Presidency, Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz evaluated his attendance at the 'peace dinner' with Mardin Metropolitan Municipality Co-Mayor Ahmet Türk.

Regarding the peace dinner organized to end the dispute between the Şenyaşar and Yıldız families, Yılmaz said, "If it were today, I would go again, I would attend that peace dinner, and I would exert all the effort I could for those families to make peace."

'SHOULD NOT BE A SUBJECT OF POLITICAL DEBATE'

Stating that attending the peace dinner was a humanitarian duty, Yılmaz said, "I do not find it right to make this a subject of political debate. If we were able to bring some comfort to a mother's heart, how happy for us. I thank those who contributed to this process, such as Bekir Bozdağ, Abdulhamit Gül, and Sırrı Süreyya Önder, once again. It was a humanitarian effort, an endeavor of ours," he said.

When reminded that a trustee was appointed to the Mardin Metropolitan Municipality shortly after this peace dinner, Yılmaz said, "Not leaving a blood feud to future generations and children is a sufficiently valuable event in itself. I do not find it right to conflate that with other issues."
