Cevdet Yılmaz's statement on Kurds in Syria: 'Clearly...'
Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz, in his remarks at the General Assembly of the Parliament, stated that Syrian Kurds and the PKK are clearly distinct, and emphasized that Turkey will continue its fight against terrorist organizations both domestically and abroad. Yılmaz said they want Syrian Kurds to be represented as they deserve and for their freedoms to be protected.
Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz responded to questions directed at him following the budget debates at the General Assembly of the Parliament.
Stating that he was asked about their approach toward Kurds in Syria, Yılmaz said, "We clearly see Syrian Kurds and the PKK as separate from each other. We are against anyone facing the pressure or imposition of terrorist organizations."
Yılmaz argued that they want Kurds to be represented in the structures of a newly forming Syria in a way they deserve, and for them to enjoy their fundamental rights and freedoms in the best possible way.

Yılmaz made the following assessments:
"We clearly see Syrian Kurds and the PKK as separate from each other. We are against anyone facing the pressure or imposition of terrorist organizations. Kurds in Syria are the original citizens and elements of that geography and country. In a newly forming Syria, we want Kurds, having been freed from the pressure of terrorist organizations, to be represented within those structures as they deserve, to enjoy their fundamental rights and freedoms in the best possible way, and to increase their prosperity. They are also our brothers and sisters, and the relatives and kin of our Kurdish citizens in our country. Therefore, there can be no different perspective toward them, but we will continue our fight against terrorist organizations in the most intense way, whoever they may be, both inside and outside of Turkey."
