CHP Chair Özel's harsh reaction to the government! 'Are we ready for duty starting tomorrow?'

At the 21st Extraordinary Congress, where the CHP decided to organize against the possibility of trustee appointments, CHP Chair Özgür Özel was re-elected as chairman, receiving all 1,171 valid votes. Following the congress, a "The Nation Protects Its Will" rally was held in front of the Ankara Nazım Hikmet Cultural Center.

Highlights from Özel's speech are as follows:

They carried out a civil coup against the elected Mayor of Istanbul because we said, 'There is no livelihood in this country anymore, there will be elections.' Because we stood by our presidential candidate, they took away the diploma he had earned years ago. That wasn't enough; the next morning, they tried to discredit him by showing up at his door as if they were conducting an operation against the biggest criminal organization. They kept our candidate in custody for 4 days. Then, as the nation was heading to the ballot box on the 4th day, they arrested our candidate and took him to Silivri. They have shown all of Turkey and the world that they no longer have any respect for the nation, nor for the nation's freedom to choose.

The March 19 coup attempt has failed. Those who attempted that coup tried to stage a coup against Turkey's next president, and the nation did not surrender to this and stood up.

They turned to appointing trustees to Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk's party. The CHP is now a party that does not sit at home, does not shy away from the streets, and fills the squares. From now on, the CHP is the party of young people of all ages. No one can stop the CHP.

Erdoğan, look us in the eye and tell us that you did not receive permission from America for the coup you are trying to carry out against your rival. This coup reveals that the judiciary in Turkey is not independent.
