CHP officials evaluated the rapprochement between the People's Alliance and the DEM Party. CHP's notable comment on the People's Alliance - DEM Party rapprochement: 'Positive, but...'

With the opening of the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM), the rapprochement between the People's Alliance, formed by the AKP and MHP, and the DEM Party has become the number one item on the political agenda.

Speaking on the subject, CHP officials pointed to the parliamentary group meeting held by CHP leader Özgür Özel.

According to a report by Cumhuriyet, recalling Özel's words, “This party will do what is necessary. Neither where Devlet Bey has confined us, nor where the DEM co-chair has pointed us,” CHP officials stated, “Our chairman will personally make whatever statements are to be made regarding these issues next week in Diyarbakır, Mardin, Batman, Şırnak, Hakkâri, and Van.”

BAHÇELİ'S HAND EXTENDED TO DEM: WE QUESTION THE SINCERITY

CHP officials did not comment on the call made by MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli to Abdullah Öcalan, the leader of the terrorist organization PKK.

Although CHP officials stated that they find the 'hand extended' by Bahçeli to the DEM Party positive, they noted that they question the sincerity of this move while discussions regarding constitutional amendments and the re-candidacy of AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan are on the agenda.

Responding to the question, “Will the CHP be squeezed into an agenda between nationalism and the Kurdish issue with this move by the People's Alliance?” party members assessed, “The Misak-ı Millî (National Pact) is among the principles of the CHP. We will do whatever is necessary for the 85 million to live within these borders without facing discrimination.”

ÖZEL TO VISIT DEMİRTAŞ

While all these issues are on the agenda, CHP leader Özel is also expected to visit former HDP Co-Chair Selahattin Demirtaş next week.
