CHP's Ocaklı explains, saying 'we have one request': '40 percent of the country's economy will disappear'
Deliberations on the 2024 Central Government Budget Law Proposal, the 2022 Central Government Final Account Law Proposal, and the Court of Accounts reports continue in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) General Assembly. Taking the floor in Parliament, CHP Rize Deputy Tahsin Ocaklı said, "We have one request: take measures regarding the earthquake that will occur in the Marmara region."
As budget deliberations continue in the TBMM, CHP's Ocaklı addressed the government.
Ocaklı stated the following:
"WE HAVE ONE REQUEST"
A major earthquake awaits us and is still ahead of us. There is one thing that needs to be done regarding this, before and after these budget deliberations, and you are not doing it. We know that 40 percent of the country's economy will disappear in the earthquake that will occur in Marmara. Scientific data, earth scientists, and I, as a civil engineer, are warning you all from here. Take precautions first for the earthquake that awaits Istanbul in the near future. This is not a responsibility to be shifted to the municipality or to be run away from. History will judge you for this later. We have one request. Take measures regarding the earthquake that will occur in Marmara. This is your duty."
