CHP's Emir evaluates the party congress: 'We must create a politics that defines itself from the left'

The 38th Ordinary Congress of the CHP witnessed a race between Özgür Özel and Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu. CHP Ankara Deputy and Party Assembly Member Murat Emir evaluated the change within the CHP.

Speaking to Hüseyin Şimşek from BirGün, Emir said, "Masses who had lost hope and were about to sever their ties with the party noticed a glimmer of hope that a real renewal would take place and pricked up their ears. They turned their eyes back to the party. Subsequently, a congress was held in a democratic environment. We were the winning side. Of course, we cannot be content with this victory. We will establish a political organization system that is pluralistic, participatory, and keeps communication channels open, starting with the Party Assembly. Especially, we must create a politics that defines itself from the left."

"IT IS TIME TO SOLVE THE PROBLEMS"

Emir also stated the following:

"Of course, some mistakes were made in our party in the recent period. But now, we must not get caught up in the mistakes of the past and we must not constantly put them in front of us. Especially the incorrect implementation of the alliance system, the allocation of over 30 parliamentary seats to other parties, and the protocol signed with the Victory Party (Zafer Partisi) had already signaled these days. Of course, there were also very positive things. We should not deny that either. Now is the time to solve the problems without ignoring them."

"OUR GOAL IS NOT TO LOSE THE METROPOLITAN CITIES AND TO ADD NEW ONES"

"Our congress will also bring success in the local elections. We already have extremely successful mayors. We are very successful in local governments, and we are signing off on accurate practices. Our main goal in the upcoming local elections is, in particular, not to lose the metropolitan cities, to add new cities, and not to lose the local election."
