CHP Group Deputy Chair Başarır reacts to Erdoğan's 'spending': 'He spends two minimum wages per minute'

Republican People's Party (CHP) Group Deputy Chair Ali Mahir Başarır drew attention to presidential expenditures and stated the following:

'WHOSE MONEY ARE YOU SPENDING SO RECKLESSLY?'

"The Presidency has spent 10 billion 262 million liras in the first 10 months of this year, meaning its expenditures have increased by 85 percent compared to last year. However, inflation is at 40 percent. Mr. Erdoğan, if you have increased your spending by this much compared to last year, you are obligated to give civil servants, workers, and retirees an 85 percent raise this year. If you don't, you can neither look in the mirror nor go out on the street. Have some shame. This gentleman has spent 1 billion 388 million liras per month. That is 46 million 266 thousand liras per day. He has consumed two minimum wages per minute. Whose money are you spending so recklessly and by what right, Mr. President?"

'HE HAS SPENT 9 BILLION 119 MILLION FROM THE DISCRETIONARY FUND'

Başarır also noted that the amount spent from the unauditable 'discretionary fund' has increased, stating:

"I am coming to the most important issue; it is secret, you cannot hold anyone accountable, you cannot examine it, but it is an incredible figure. The President has spent 9 billion 119 million liras from the discretionary fund so far this year. Where did you spend it? The palace's discretionary fund expenses increase during every election period. Where did you use this money? If it is for national security, the survival of this country, or the future of this country, there is no problem, but you have spent this much money from the discretionary fund. The palace's expenses and the discretionary fund total 20 billion liras. There is still a month and a half left. There are palace expenses that cannot be audited but are constantly increasing. One man is spending this much money, while millions of retirees, workers, civil servants, students, and farmers continue to be crushed and struggle against inflation."
